Green Infrastructure has the potential to support sustainable development at the local government level. The MMCD created the Green Design Guidelines to aid in introducing Green Infrastructure practices in local projects via Supplementary Specifications for the Contract Documents.
The decision to employ these supplementary practices remains with the Design Professional responsible for the design. The Green Design Guidelines are the MMCDA evaluation of potential decision factors which may influence the choice of “Green Infrasturcute” Supplementary clauses in the Contract Documents.
The MMCD approach documented in the Green Design Guidelines includes a categorization of the Green Guideline Supplementaries by their relative ease of implementation. These “Impact Assessment” tools included in the Green Design Guidelines can be very helpful to the Design Professional when evaluating specific Green Infrastructure Supplementary specifications’ cost or sustainability factors.
