This 4 hour course provides a brief overview of the Master Municipal Construction Documents - focussing on the General Conditions. Those most likely to benefit from this course are people who have some construction experience with other contract formats, but who wish to know if the MMCD is appropriate for their needs or to learn what unique approaches it takes. Attendees who have no contracting experience will gain exposure to the structure and philosophy of one of the most accepted contract formats for municipal construction in BC. This course is not intended to provide in-depth training to create and tender a MMCD contract or to administer one in the field.

(68 mins) The presentation discusses the completion of the MMCD Asset Management Data Register (AMDR) project. The MMCDA AMDR was developed to introduce standards for the creation, management, and transfer of infrastructure data by BC Local Governments and their partners. In this session you will learn about the two core project deliverables: the municipal infrastructure data schema and the AMDR Database Utility that can be used for creating and managing infrastructure asset data. The AMDR Project brings local elements to infrastructure data management, including fields for PSAB 3150 compliance and TCA reporting, and standardized condition ratings. The AMDR is open source, suitable for use by vendors and systems currently used by BC Local Governments and the consultants that serve them and it is free to MMCDA members. The presentation will end with a discussion on the next steps for the project.
(59 mins) The MMCD Association has become aware of the increasing use of Supplementaries to the MMCD which transfer unwarranted risk and responsibility to the Contractor. In this webinar, a panel of experts from the MMCD Association will review the rationale for balanced sharing of risk which is the foundation of the MMCD approach and the downsides of diverting from this principle.
